Q:  Who influenced you the most when learning your craft?:

A: When learning my craft, I was most influenced by Vidal Sassoon and Paul Mitchell. But, that was when I was in beauty school. Everyone was a “cutter” and NO ONE colored hair. When I left school and started learning about color, I would say that Leslie Blanchard and Constance Harnett were two colorists who I thought were just GREAT. I also thought Lisa Guenther was a FABULOUS expert at highlighting. So, these are the people who influenced me.

Q:  Where do you draw your inspiration from?:

A: I draw inspiration from the beauty of nature……………. animals, trees, the landscape. I love shadow and light and how colors bounce off one another in the sun.

Q:  What would you say to new future professionals entering this industry?:

A: New professionals entering this industry must learn to WORK HARD, play less and expect very little financial reward as they enter the business. Becoming a top salon professional takes integrity, self discipline, sobriety, respect for the field, for the clients, for their employers and for themselves. I would urge new professionals to lead a healthy life and to eat, sleep and take care of their bodies and their souls. I would urge them to be kind and friendly with their co-workers but to look outside their salons to form broad and wholesome friendships with many different kinds of people who do different things with their lives every day.

Q:  Where did you attend Beauty School?:

A: I attended beauty school after graduating from college. I went to Murwood Beauty Academy in Orlando, Florida.

Q:   What was the turning point of your career?:

A: The turning point in my career was when, after assisting at a show in Atlanta, my bosses at Clairol asked me if I was interested in being promoted……. and in moving to New York City to work in the corporate offices of Clairol.

Q:  Best advice you have received?:

A: The best advice I received: Do the very best you can do every day. Trust yourself and demand the best from yourself. Never stop learning. Never stop growing. Don’t believe your own publicity. The moment you think you have “made it”…you’re in trouble…

Accomplishments:

Accomplishments: My husband and I have raised a wonderful daughter who is in college. I am so happy that people love the color work that I do and that they like the color education I offer.
